Bathroom Towel Hooks for the Kids

I have no idea who was in charge of deciding where the towel racks in this house would go, but I don't think he was of sound mind.  They are in the strangest and most inconvenient places!

OK, I'm done with my rant.  Here is my solution to the problem (at least for the kids' bathroom).

I let each of them choose their favorite ribbon from the ribbon holders.

I cut a small length (about 5") of ribbon and burned the edges to keep them from raveling.

Look at that!  I've never burned the edges before, but it really does work well.

I then sewed the ribbon into a loop onto the side of the towel.

I used white bobbin thread so the blue won't show on the towel side.

Then I hung each towel from the kids' jute-wrapped hooks.

Perfect height for them to reach right after washing their hands.  Now the trick is to get them to wash their hands in the first place....

Thanks so much for stopping by.  What do you think?  Is this something you could use in your kids' bathroom?
Blessings,
Jamie

Hanging Hairbrush Storage from Tin Cans

I get really frustrated when I'm getting ready in our bathroom.  I long for a drawer.  Just one little drawer for my brush.  And the toothpaste.  And my moisturizer.  And some makeup.  OK, maybe I'd really like two drawers, but that's not what this post is about.  It's about this

*cue angels singing*
So it might not look glorious to you, but it's a game changer for me.  I don't have to get down on my knees and go digging under the sink to find my brush every morning!

It all started with some tomato paste.  I made chili last week just so I could get my hands on these sweet little cans.

I used the can opener to take the bottom off (as well as the top).

Wrapped it in a piece of scrapbook paper

taped it up

and sealed it with some Mod Podge.

I just bought this over the weekend

It's a gallon!  Amazing, right?  I might just Mod Podge anything in the house that doesn't move (or move fast enough)

Back to the brush holder.  I used some command strips to attach them to the inside of the cabinet door.  I used hot glue an adhesive called Duco Cement to secure the can to the command strip.

Voila!

Here's where I used to keep the brushes

...and you thought I was all organized, didn't you?  What a mess.  At least these brush holders should help a little.

Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,
Jamie
