Help Me Choose a Wall Color

I love looking at paint colors... I could spend hours flipping through fan decks.  With all of the blank walls in this new townhouse, I'm spending even more time than usual daydreaming about color.

I can't believe I've never used the Sherwin Williams Paint Color Visualizer before now!  I'm currently deciding what color to use in our master bedroom.  Here are some of the colors I tried

SW ponder

SW midnight

SW less brown

SW interesting aqua

SW sensuous gray

SW mink

I love how the variations in the Su Casa dresser are highlighted in different ways, depending on the color behind it.  I know that I shouldn't be decorating around a piece of furniture that I might not be able to keep, but I think it is a great jump off point.  The bed and window treatments will be solid white, so just about any color will work with those fixed elements in the room.

So, spill it!  What's your favorite?  Let me know in the comments or on my facebook page!

Blessings,
Jamie

I Just Couldn't Help Myself...

We're in the new place and loving it!  There are still boxes to be unpacked and things to be organized.  So what did I decide to do this week?  Paint, of course!

The cabinets in the kitchen are beautiful, but I had really grown accustomed to the white cabinets we had in the old house.  I loved the bright and clean look of the minimal color scheme and painted cabinets.  Here is the kitchen in the old house

The builder-white walls in the new house weren't cutting it for me with the granite and stained cabinets; I felt they demanded something dramatic.

The entertaining room, kitchen and eating area are essentially all one room, so I wanted to find a way to distinguish them from one another.  I love the spacious feel of the house with the high ceilings and open floor plan.  Because of the size I figured the space could handle deeper tones on the walls.
this is the entertaining room (before we put the slipcovers back on)

The white contrasts the wall color so nicely

I absolutely love how the area turned out, but it is such a stark contrast to the old kitchen.  My taste has been heavily impacted by the white kitchen trend that is so popular now, so this seemed like a big risk!
Here is the the eating area before...

and after.  That light has got to go!!!  We'll probably take it down this weekend.

And I love this color against the stone in the fireplace

What do you think?  Can a kitchen in darker colors still be considered beautiful by today's standards?  If you're curious about the colors I used, they are:
Benjamin Moore Elephant Gray
BM Smoked Oyster
BM Caponata

Add Some Color to Your Decor {for cheap}

It's so good to be back!  I didn't go anywhere, but my internet service did.  Two weeks without the ability to upload photos.  It stunk!  Except for last week when my husband took the kids while I went to Starbucks...  Latte-lovin, child-free, blog-posting wi-fi heaven I tell you!  I'll have to do that again sometime.  Now for some house updates.

I went a little nuts with the spray paint last week.  I felt like it was just the pop of color my house needed as we go into Spring.

This was looking pretty worn and drab...

So much better in orange!

Don't we all have this same knife block from the wedding registry?

Bam!  I love it now!

I had a few existing orange items in the kitchen;  I just wanted a few more pops of color.  Love my rag rug!

There is a tiny bit of orange in our window treatments...

and I've been keeping some clementines around since the kids love them.

And then there was this thing I got from my favorite local thrift store.  It's now closed... sigh.  Andi from Jane of all Crafts first took me there; at least I have this item (and my headboard) as a keepsake.

I loved it in wood, but I wanted more color in the living room...

You just got purplized!!!

But not you lion door-knocker handle thingy

I keep this next to the door for miscellaneous items like sunglasses and stuff.

This was so easy and fun, I think I'll be using spray paint a lot more in the future!  Let me know what you think of the updates... did I go a little overboard?

Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,
Jamie
